Why Group Therapy is Powerful for Teens

Teens are in a unique developmental stage where peers play a significant role in shaping their confidence, identity, and outlook. Group therapy leverages this by providing a safe, supportive environment where teens can connect with others facing similar challenges.

Here’s how group therapy can benefit teens:

What to Expect in Teen Groups

In these sessions, teens will have the opportunity to share experiences at their own pace in a nonjudgmental space. It’s completely natural to feel shy or nervous when starting group therapy! Building trust and forming bonds takes time. Teens will also build skills for managing emotions, navigating relationships, and coping with stress. The group setting allows them to practice social interactions, reflect on their feelings in a supportive environment, and learn coping strategies from both the therapist and peers. Another benefit of group is a change to develop a greater sense of self-worth and belonging. Through support and shared understanding, they realize they’re not alone, which boosts their confidence and helps them feel valued. This sense of community fosters greater emotional resilience and a positive self-image.

Teen Connection Groups

I currently offer two in-person teen group therapy sessions:

  • Sundays, 1:00 – 2:30 PM

  • Wednesdays, 6:00 – 7:30 PM

How to Join

  1. Reach Out: Contact me to discuss your teen’s needs and determine which group is the best fit.

  2. Schedule a Pre-Group Intake: I will meet with you and your teen to learn more about your teen and ensure they feels comfortable and ready to participate.

  3. Start the Journey: Your teen will join peers in a space designed to foster connection and growth.
