Therapy for Teens/ Adolescence

Growing up in Today’s World Isn’t Easy

Life as a teenager or pre-teen today is full of challenges. Teens are juggling school, friendships, life transitions, and trying to figure out who they are—and don’t even get me started on the hormones! Throw in the lasting effects of a pandemic, the constant comparison on social media, and the pressure to 'have it all together,' and it’s no wonder so many teens feel stressed, overwhelmed, or alone.

Maybe your teen seems to be struggling more than usual. They’re withdrawn, constantly irritable, or seem to have lost the spark they once had. As a parent, you may feel unsure about how to help. It’s a frustrating and exhausting experience for everyone involved.

The good news? There’s hope. Therapy offers a safe, nonjudgmental space where teens can process their emotions, build their confidence.

Signs Your Teen May Need Therapy

Here are some signs that may indicate your teen or pre-teen could benefit from therapy:

  • Emotional Changes: Intense mood swings, frequent irritability, or overwhelming sadness.

  • Withdrawal: Avoiding friends, family, or activities they once enjoyed.

  • School Struggles: Declining grades, lack of motivation, or frequent trouble at school.

  • Behavioral Concerns: Acting out, getting into fights, or engaging in risky behaviors like substance use.

  • Self-Esteem Issues: Expressing feelings of worthlessness or self-doubt.

  • Physical Neglect: Ignoring basic hygiene, significant weight changes, or loss of appetite.

  • Difficulty Coping: Overwhelmed by changes such as moving, divorce, or a death in the family.

If any of these resonate with you, it may be time to reach out for help.

A Note for Parents

Watching your teen struggle is heartbreaking. You want to help, but it can feel like nothing you do is making a difference. I want you to know that you’re not alone. Therapy isn’t about “fixing” your child—it’s about giving them the tools and support they need to process their emotions, build resilience, and navigate life’s challenges.

While your teen’s therapy sessions are confidential (except in cases where safety is a concern), I will work with you to provide updates and practical tools to improve communication and strengthen your relationship at home. Together, we can help your teen feel supported and understood—not just by me, but by you as well.

A Note for Teens

I know things can feel heavy sometimes. You might feel like no one understands what you’re going through or that opening up to someone new sounds scary. I want you to know that therapy isn’t about judging you or forcing you to change. It’s about creating a space where you can talk about what’s really going on, at your own pace, and without pressure.

I’m here to listen to your story, on your terms. Whether you’re feeling stressed, stuck, or just plain misunderstood, I want to help you figure out how to navigate all the craziness life throws your way. Therapy is a place where you can be yourself—no filters, no expectations.

Let’s Work Together to Support Your Teen
